Imagine approaching an intersection when you encounter a strange sight. While the familiar red, hexagonal sign is there, no words appear. It’s a bit odd, but drivers still understand the message it conveys: “Stop.”
We’ve assigned words to describe God’s divine attributes, particularly when they implicate the daily life choices of those who strive to follow Him.
If we take away the words, the message still rings clear. People – both those who follow Christ and those who do not – recognize characteristics that are attributable to God. The message remains clear. People recognize purity, love, compassion, and grace when they see it. Serving as a reflection of Christ means we live the meaning of who He is, whether we use words to describe it or not. Either way, others around us resonate with that.
