Dr. Kevin Mannoia offers us the following reflection…
A number of years ago when my father first came to visit Southern California, he made an interesting comment I will never forget. As we drove the 10 Freeway east toward San Bernardino, he said, “Well, you can never get lost around here. As long as you can see the high points of the mountains, you can navigate the valleys.” I’ve thought often about that as I watch people struggle with their daily life, or with tough decisions they face.
It is common to feel at times as though you are in a valley and meandering aimlessly. But if you have experienced God in a personal way through Christ, there will always be high points to orient you. If you’re in the valley, look to your high point – the grace you have received from God, the blessing of your spouse, the joy of your children, the honor of serving Christ in a job, the special moment when you felt so close to God. Those will help you navigate your valley.
