Commencements – a high school ceremony, a college event, perhaps a graduate school celebration. At whatever level, commencements have come to mean a giant milestone of achievement – an accomplishment, an ending of a season of study and preparation.
More accurately, it means to commence, to start, to begin.
Just imagine it – after all the hard work, the effort, the diligence, you’re just now at square one! Yet, as you stand at the starting line, you are much better equipped and ready for a whole new level of performance.
Every morning God greets you with a diploma of grace. Each day you engage the realities of life, and you learn and grow. Perhaps you failed yesterday. You may find yourself angry about your performance last week, or frustrated by people that won't yield. But when you walk the path with Jesus, there is a commencement every morning.
You are ready, by God's grace, to walk at a new level, into new situations – always learning and growing. He gives you a commencement – everything from before is a preparation for a new chapter – a new beginning, a fresh start.
